Yellowstone Trip Via NE Gate Was Great!

My mom and I took a trip up to Yellowstone today (Mon.) and it was beautiful. Before the E. Gate was even closed, I had already floated the idea of going through the NE Gate just because it would be a nice change. Nothing against the E. Gate, just wanted something different.

I didn't calculate the "extra mileage" of going through the sliver of MT and in fact, we didn't swing all the way down to Fishing Bridge. We didn't even take in seeing Yellowstone Lake. We took the "North Loop" over to Mammoth, down to Norris, over to Canyon, up to Tower, and back out the NE Gate.

We had a wonderful time; saw a griz and four (yes, 4) cubs, a bull moose, of course lots of buffalo (including the traditional buffalo walking in the road), a coyote, a fox just outside the park, and on Chief Joseph Hwy. we had a black bear run out in front of us (yes, he ran out in front of us, much like the deer do). Not to mention seeing Pilot Peak and a gorgeous sunset.

Word to the wise, fill up in Cody as Cooke City, MT is running $3.70 a gallon for the cheap stuff.
